Production
Development
The Kings Man was announced in 2018 as a prequel to the Kingsman film series, based on the comic book series of the same name. The film was written and directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also produced the film with Karl Gajdusek.
Casting
Casting for the film began in 2019, with Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, and Rhys Ifans being among the first actors to be cast. Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, Charles Dance, and Stanley Tucci were added to the cast later that year.
Filming
Principal photography for The Kings Man began in September 2019 and wrapped in February 2020. The film was shot in the United Kingdom, Hungary, and Italy.
Release
The Kings Man was originally scheduled to be released in November 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was eventually released in September 2021.
